  may 04, 2015. cornwall, ontario - it's nearly time for the annual pilgrimage to cornwall for thousands of jehovah's witnesses.. the faithful will start converging in cornwall on june 12 for the first of three watch tower conventions being held at the cornwall civic complex in the ed lumley arena.. altogether more than 7,500 delegates will be attending the three conventions, pumping in excess of $3.5 million dollars in economic benefits into the community, the city said monday.

  how low can they go?.

  if i remember correctly, this is the lowest number of gb members the wt has had since the gb arrangement started.

  they dont seem to be in any hurry to appoint any new gb members.

  If I remember correctly, this is the lowest number of GB members the WT has had since the GB arrangement started. They don’t seem to be in any hurry to appoint any new GB members. They might not want any new blood that might rock the status quo. Why rock the boat with new members when you can use any of the rank and file to do your bidding. If a few more GB’s die, how many Governing Body members can the WT get away with and still function as an organization? Two, three?

  Jesus was in heaven preparing a place for them.

  But the apostle Paul said he preferred to die (Right Away) and be resurrected instantly to be with Christ.

  I asked a JW elder whom I used to serve with to explain this to me. He said he would research and get back to me right away.

  It’s going on 6 weeks and I still haven’t heard from him.

  And I’m not going to call him either.

  Kind of reminds me of another promise.

  Does the GB really care if the organization collapses?

  i am sure that the gb does not care about the r&f jw.

  it does not care about the organization collapsing overnight.. why do i say this?.

  in 2013 the organization declared that the "faithful and discreet slave" consisted only of the seven member of the gb.

  since most of the men are in their 60's and up this is their retirement funding support.

  If you were in their position would like to see all of that crumble down and taken away ?

  If I had sacrificed all my life to the WT and eventually became a GB and never had an opportunity to pay into social security or some retirement fund or get an education to support myself.

  And if my wife depended on me financially, medically, and all my support system depended on me being loyal to the WTS, what would I do if I woke up to TTATT in my 50s or 60s? Would I become an apostate and get myself and my wife kicked out on the curb with no one to help us in any way? All family and friends would shun us.

  I would keep my mouth shut and live the life of pleasure and privilege and travel around the world and let the WTS pay for me and my wife’s food, clothing , medical, and dental until we died.
  

  The GB today is different from the GB of yester-years. They are inundated with tons of information regarding 607-1914. They know they don’t have the truth.

  After taking over all property and extra cash from all congregations on the whole planet, which amounts to at the very least US$ 50 billion, they are in a great position if every one leaves, they can just share the cash between themselves.

  (Not)Preaching advice

  having recently had an "awakening" - not from reading awake .... i realize i can not preach doctrines i do not believe anymore .

  but i do not want the elders to start following my every move, because i also have plans to check other christian denominations.. so i am thinking, should i chat for an hour or two with an old visit and report the hours, should i tell the elders i have some doubts and i do not want to preach for now or should i just stop reporting and avoid the elders attempts to talk to me?

  what do you think is the best sollution to get away with this?

  Just lie about your hours. Turn in 3 or 4 hrs just to keep them off you back until you can fade. If they question you, tell them you haven't been feeling well. Which is true, you haven't been feeling well since you don't believe in their doctrines.

  They have lied to you all these years and they will continue to lie to you without blinking and eyelid.

  Don't try to play fair because they won't.

  Thanks for posting that Terry, I had never even thought of seeing the Gospels or the Bible the way Bart describes it.

  Do we really spend our lives finding meaning only in the brute facts of what happened before, and in nothing else?

  Think about the things that matter to us: our families, friends, work, hobbies, religion, philosophy, country, novels, poetry, music, good food, and good drink. Do we really think that the brute facts about the past are the only things that matter?

  i've been dating a jw girl for about 4 years and we've recently had a lot of issues with the fact that her family doesn't like that i'm not a jw.

  i've been looking into the religion and am interested in it.

  but is it wrong to join just so i don't lose her?
